This is an excellent example of the classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual wristwatch produced in 1966. Its not only a highly collectable model in its own right but amazingly its comes with its original box, original Rolex leather wallet, original chronometer certificate, original Rolex guarantee stamped N. I (Navy, Army, Air Force, Institutes) Kowloon Hong Kong, so has military history. Official Rolex main agent service receipt dated 11/12/89 - Other Rolex papers. This beautiful Rolex wristwatch is not only a stunning timepiece what you will get immense pleasure in wearing but also a great investment piece and heirloom and something that will appreciate in value.

Recently fully inspected with no issues to report and in exceptional mechanical condition, keeping accurate time ready to enjoy! Introduced in the early 1960s and known as the brother to the iconic Perpetual 36, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 is the perfect vintage Rolex watch for daily wear and use. Robust enough to stand the rigors of everyday life but classic enough to be worn with a suit and tie, the Rolex Date reference shares the same in-house, chronometer-certified Perpetual movement as its Datejust sibling, granting it identical performance. The word "perpetual" here does not refer to a calendar, but to the abilities of the Rolex-made caliber 1560 automatic movement (which is also found in the Holy grails such as GMT Masters and Submariners from the early 1960's), nothing less than Rolex bi-directional, automatic-winding movement.

The reference 1002 was launched in the early sixties, and this example dates to 1964. The case appears bright and sharp and remains in a great condition. The dial itself exhibits a sunburst shade and displays all of the signs of the early version of the reference, from the Swiss markings to the early Chronometer certification. Unique highly polished concave raised silver baton indexes with minutes chapter ring to the outer. Original steel pointed baton hands, silver steel stick centre seconds hand. Dial is in good condition, please observe photographs. Original Case: 34mm (without crown) stainless steel case is in good overall condition.

Has some hairline surface scratches associated with polished metals commensurate with age and wear, there are no deep scratches or dents. Lugs are in excellent condition numbered 125 between the lugs at 6 dating the watch to 1966 and 1002 at 12. Original Crystal: Good condition for age.

Original Case Back Cover Outer: Service sticker has faded and tarnished over time. Case has hairline surface scratches associated with polished metals commensurate with age and wear.

There are deep scratches or dents. Original Case Back Cover Inner: Signed Montres Rolex SA Geneva Switzerland patented Stainless Steel 1002 III. Has period service markers etched. Original Movement: Calibre 1560 Automatic movement signed Montres Rolex SA Geneva Twenty Six 26 Adjusted 5 Positions.

Like all in-house Rolex calibers, it is an automatic movement, equipped with a perpetual rotor. The movement is equipped with 26 jewels and beats at 18000 BPH.

This is less than the 28800 which is the standard Rolex uses today - and has done for a long time. The movement uses a Breguet free-sprung hairspring and KIF Flector shock absorbers for improved resistance to shocks. The movement uses a balance with Microstella screws for regulation. The movement uses Rolex p/n 7980 balance assembly.

This movement uses a traditional stone lever escapement. Overall in excellent working order keeping accurate time. Recently inspected with no issues to report. Will fit a large gents wrist up to 7.5 inches in circumference can be adjusted down within the clasp to a smaller size. Has surface hairline scratches commensurate with age and everyday wear. Links are tight, 557 end links, Clasp is in excellent functioning order.
